2013

The Company´s shares became part of the Bovespa index.

Repowering work on the Mascarenhas HPP (ES) increases installed capacity by 4.5 MW to 198.0 MW, thereby finalizing the process of repowering the plant.

On May 10, 2013, the Pecém I Thermoelectric Power Plant received ANEEL authorization to start the commercial operations of the second generation unit with an installed capacity of 360 MW. EDP Energias do Brasil holds a 50% stake in the project.

The Power Plant Enerpeixe won the Seal of Sustainable Energy – Certification “GOLD” at the Conference “Brazil Energy Frontiers”, held on October 3, 2013, by Acende Brasil Institute.

On August 6, 2013, the HPP Cachoeira Caldeirão received the installation license to begin construction of the project.

On December 6, 2013, EDP Energias do Brasil establish a partnership with China Three Gorges (“CTG”), for co-investments, in partnership, in the Brazilian Energy Market. Additionally, within this context, the Company will sell, after the conclusion of the transation expected to occur by the 1st half of 2014, 50% stake in the HPPs Santo Antônio do Jari and Cachoeira Caldeirão.

On December 13, 2013, Terra Nova Consortium, composed together with the Company Furnas Centrais Elétricas S.A, wins in the A-5 auction held by ANEEL the concession of the Hydro Power Plant São Manoel that will be built in the state of Mato Grosso and Pará, on Teles Pires River.

Also in this auction, EDP Renováveis Brasil , a company in which EDP Energias do Brasil holds 45% stake, sells 45 MW of new energy, through four wind generation projects: Aroeira, Jericho, Umbuzeiros e Aventura I, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

2012

Ana Maria Machado Fernandes assumes the position of Director and CEO of EDP – Energias do Brasil.

In The Annual Shareholders’ Meeting was approved the proposal of the split of common shares that represent the capital of EDP Energias do Brasil, so that each common share came to be represented by three shares of the same type.

Repowering work on the Mascarenhas HPP (ES) increases installed capacity by 4 MW to 193.5 MW, with the last scheduled for 2013 reaching a total capacity of 198.8MW.

Announced the sale of equity interest in a supplier of power transmission Evrecy Participações Ltda, subject to the prior approval of the National Electric Energy Agency – ANEEL.

2011

Startup of the third wind farm of  EDP Energias do Brasil, in partnership with EDP Renováveis, the Tramandai I Wind Farm  (70 MW) in Rio Grande do Sul state.

Start of the construction of the Santo Antônio do Jari HPP, a recent acquisition, with 373.4 MW, between the states of Pará and Amapá.

Increase of 21 MW of assured energy Mascarenhas (ES) and Peixe Angical (TO).

2010

Pioneer electric mobility project of EDP in Brazil is part of the group’s innovation policy. Vehicle recharging stations were installed in the cities of Vitoria, Vila Velha, Serra, Guarapari and Cariacica (ES) and Guarulhos, Sao Jose dos Campos and Mogi das Cruzes (SP). Another initiative involved the donation of electric bicycles to public safety agencies.

EDP in Brazil celebrated its fifth anniversary of going public at a meeting with investors and analysts. In the period, the company has met the growth targets promised in the IPO.

The third generating unit of the UHE Mascarenhas, located in the State of Espírito Santo, passed through repowering.

It was inaugurated in October the Generation Operation Center (GOC) in Serra, State of Espírito Santo. With advanced technology, the GOC centralizes operations command and control of 14 medium and small hydroelectric plants, which together account for 199.30 MW of installed capacity.

2009

EDP Energias do Brasil started a cycle with emphasis on investments in Generation, on increased quality and efficiency in Distribution, and on the creation of added value in Marketing and Energy Management.

EDP Energias do Brasil held a forum attended by specialists in innovation and sustainability.

EDP Energias do Brasil’s shares were maintained on the BM&FBovespa corporate sustainability index (ISE).

In the state of Espírtito Santo, inauguration of the Santa Fé plant; in the state of Tocantins, renewal of the license to operate Investco.

EDP was awarded the environmental management ISO 14000 certification for the Enerpeixe power plant, and the São João and Paraíso small hydro plants.

2008

EDP Energias no Brasil has concluded an exchange of assets with the Grupo Rede to add 653 MW to its installed capacity. The distributor Enersul was exchanged for 73% of voting stock of Investco, the company that operates the Luiz Eduardo Magalhães Hydroelectric Plant (Lajeado), located on the Tocantins River.

EDP Energias do Brasil and Renováveis create subsidiary and agree to first wind power investment in Brazil.

Exame Sustainability Guide includes EDP Energias do Brazil between 20 model companies in corporate responsibility.

2007

In partnership with MPX, acquires Pecém I TPP, in Ceará State, with equal stakes in investment of U.S$ 1.3 billion, and predicts an increase of 35% in the installed capacity of the group.

Inauguration of the São João Hydroelectric Plant, located in the city of Castelo, in the state of Espírito Santo.

2006

Completion of construction of the Peixe Angical Hydroelectric Plant, in the state of Tocantins. The first generator comes on line in June. The third and last turbine comes on line in September, for a total of 452 MW of installed capacity.

In October, the commercial operation of the forth turbine of the Mascarenhas Hydroelectric Plant, in the state of Espírito Santo, adding 50 MW of installed capacity.

EDP Energias do Brasil shares are selected for inclusion in the BM&F Bovespa Sustainability Index (ISE).

2005

The Company becames be named EDP Energias do Brasil.

Initial public offering of shares on the Novo Mercado of BM&F Bovespa and capitalization of the dollar debts Escelsa, in operation of almost U.S. $ 1.2 billion, the largest of its kind in the year.
